The History of The Big Banana Juice Bar

The Big Banana Juice bar started in the summer of 2001 when John, Mark and Tony got together and realised that Bristol needed a really decent health-centric juice bar.

The trio were motivated by their deep belief in the benefit of a healthy diet. John and Tony both hold qualifications in nutrition. They wanted to provide what they felt was lacking in the community - a place to s erve healthy, totally pure, unadulterated fresh fruit and vegetable juice and a place to be the sounding board for health ideas and discussion. They wanted to offer their personal health experience to Bristol. The juice bar, as it has turned out has been a fantastic success and fulfilled their dream every bit they hoped. The BB owes its success to the legion of eager young enthusiasts have joined the Big Banana team and, most of all, to all the people that bring their ideas and energy to the market.

After the juice bar got itself firmly established, Mark and Tony went on to do other things leaving John at the helm. Tony is now studying Hospital Dietetics at Plymouth University.

The Juice Bar Still operates from St. Nicks Market on Corn St. (see map) but we often do work away for various festivals, notably; Bristol's annual organic food festival; Sailing Regatta; Slow Food Festival and Market & Bristol Farmers Market. Since Harri Joined the team in 2006 we have got more and more involved in events and festivals.

We have become more involved in wheatgrass in the past two years and are looking forward to launching online frozen wheatgrass sales in the near future. You will be able to buy frozen wheatgrass packs, wheatgrass growing kits and wheatgrass juicers. We are very excited about it.
